Aligning for Impact
Sharing Nonprofit Stories and Advocating for Change

Creating Alignment - Sharing Stories

Led by BCTRHT, a coalition of Calhoun County foundations and nonprofit organizations came together in 2025 to address the financial uncertainties affecting the sector, both from federal sources and elsewhere.

A survey was distributed to 1) gauge the level and nature of impacts being felt by organizations locally, and 2) identify areas of needed support. The resulting report is intended to inform the next steps the community can take to protect essential services.

On May 8, 2026, we convened a Nonprofit Advocacy Breakfast, bringing together folks from across the sector with a panel of policy makers to share stories and imagine next steps to better systems.

The Community Impact Survey Report

Most organizations are indeed feeling the negative effects of both funding loss and the growing uncertainty stemming from the ongoing shake up of traditional funding streams (federal and otherwise). The effects are being felt broadly across the entire sector, regardless of organization size or service type. There is a strong desire for organizations to band together to work toward change.

Share Your Own Story

Across Calhoun County, cuts to funding are changing what help is available — and who can get it. Services many families depend on are being reduced or disappearing. Your story can help make the real impact of these cuts visible to funders and decision-makers.

May 2026 Advocacy Breakfast

On May 8, 2026, nonprofit leaders, funders, community partners, and elected officials gathered in Battle Creek for the Calhoun County Nonprofit Advocacy Breakfast. Together, they named what is happening across the sector, heard from the data, and began imagining what coordinated action looks like next.
